Water Butts – What Are They?   A water butt is a large often plastic container used to collect rain water. It is a great way to help the environment – not to mention the money you will save if you are on a water butt connectors  meter. Water Butts first became popular in the mainstream a few years ago with the introduction of hose pipe bans across certain areas of the UK. Gardeners were suddenly faced with the dilemma of how to maintain their lush green lawns without having to spend hours with a watering can! Using a water butt means you can collect hundreds or even thousands of litres of rainwater that would have otherwise gone down the drain. They are very simple to use, you just make a hole for your drainpipe (some even come ready cut out) and your on your way. You can also buy rain diverters so that once it is full the excess water simply continues down the drainpipe. If you have a large garden you can buy several water butts and connect them together using special connector kits. This ensures a plentiful supply of water so your lawn never gets thirsty.
